Introduction
Rarahil Memorial School is purely non profitable community based trust organization which is running under Guthi. The four brave sons Rajendra Maharjan, Rajman Mali, Hirakaji Maharjan and Lan Bahadur Maharjan of Kirtipur had scarified their lives in the people movement at 1990 A.D due to autocratic Panchayati rule. Four of them had got martyrdom on 20th Chaitra 2046. They lost their lives for the restoration of prosperous and impartial democracy in Nepal.
Rarahil school was established in the great Memory and honors of those martyrs in 1993 A.D the name of Rarahil was formed by supplying initial letters of the name of those martyrs. The activist youths of Kirtipur took great initiation for the establishment of Rarahil school to develop critical thinking to the students.
Kirtipur is one of the most beautiful and historical places of Kathmandu located 8 Kilometer far from the central Kathmandu city. No individual citizen community and group can be apart from the political social economic and cultural traditions of Kirtipur. In this regard energetic youths have been becoming active for 30 years. This group has played a vital role to bring political enlightment and lead Kirtipur in the path of change. This group has also involved in solving drinking water, transportation, health and environmental problems in Kirtipur.
Rarahil School has school has been established on the lap of Kirtipur hill. It is the common property of Kirtipur. This academic institution was established with the aim of educating children of martyrs, underprivileged backward and poor by providing scholarship and make Kirtpur 100% literate.
Rarahil was initiated with 5 (Five) classrooms in a residence building and 135 students along with Nursery and S.Kg. classes. Now, it is running as a reputed secondary school of Kirtipur.
It faced many obstacle in the beginning days but due to the economic, moral, intellectual and physical support of friends Rarahil has reached in the summit of success for the coustructio0nn of School’s new building a famous Italian mountaineer Fausto De stefani supprted who was first introduced by Lila Bdr. Shahi. Fausto was highly impressed by the motto and targeted activities of Rarahil. He is also assisting to run the Adaptation project especially for the underprivileged, orphans, destitute, homeless and poor and intelligent children of Kirtipur and Nepal. Rarahiil is going to run professional school in near future and building is under construction. The contribution of Lila Bdr. has been very crucial for the completion of above cited programs. Lila Bahadur is also actively working as a relation build up between Rarahil and Italian friends. So, he has been a very important act of the school. Likewise, Anselmo Casteli, the chairperson of Fondazione Senza Frontiere (Italy), Elio Mutti, Coordinator of the project have also assisted the school.
The objectives of the Rarahil in the time of establishment are:
- To raise the knowledge of humanity in the children
- To develop the competitive and critic knowledge in the children.
- To explore different skills, talents hidden in the children.
- To develop citizen who are care full about environment and health.
- To develop citizen who are aware and responsible toward the nation and the people.
